Gradual Resumption of In-Person Worship

UPDATES ON PHASE TWO OF RE-OPENING AFTER CIRCUIT-BREAKER

25 September 2020

Dear ORPC members and friends,

Gradual Resumption of In-Person Worship Services

The number of community cases in Singapore has remained low and on 23rd September, the Multi-Ministry Taskforce has further eased measures for congregational worship. From 3 October 2020, all churches will be allowed to conduct congregational and other worship services for up to 100 persons (split in two zones of 50 persons), subject to safe distancing and safe management measures in place.

In view of these developments, Session has decided on a gradual resumption of our in-person Sunday worship services. To allow sufficient time for safe distancing and safe management measures to be put in place for in-person worship services, we are targeting 25 October 2020 (Sunday) as the earliest date when services may resume. As a start, we will resume in-person worship for the 9 am service in the sanctuary only. We will observe the situation and resume other services and activities subsequently if we determine that this can be done safely and practically.

Safe Distancing and Management Measures for In-Person Worship Services

When in-person worship services resume:

  1. Congregation members who wish to worship in person must book their places online beforehand. This is to ensure that the church keeps to the 100 person limit per worship service. More details about the online booking system will be announced before the resumption of services.
  2. Worship services will continue to be broadcast online for the majority of the congregation who are unable to gather in person.
  3. Safe distancing and safe management measures will be in place throughout the service. Congregational singing and fellowship will not be allowed within church premises.
  4. Worship services will be kept to a maximum of 1 hour duration in accordance with Government advisories and to allow cleaning of the premises between services and to minimise contact between congregations.

Congregation members who are unable to participate in in-person worship services are encouraged to continue worshipping at home with their families or small groups through our online Sunday worship services and join the various ministry activities that are taking place online.

Please pray for our leaders and fellow servants who are making preparations for worship services to resume and for willing volunteers to help implement safe distancing and safe management measures for in-person services.

Yours in Christ,

Rev Dr Clive Chin
